Fiscal Sponsorship

A responsible structure for charitable work.

Global Generosity provides approved fiscally sponsored divisions and charitable projects with the nonprofit structure, financial administration, and oversight needed to carry out charitable work responsibly.

What is fiscal sponsorship?

Fiscal sponsorship allows approved charitable work to operate through an established 501(c)(3) organization. GGI administers the charitable funds, maintains financial records, reviews proposed uses of funds, processes approved direct vendor payments, and monitors continued charitable alignment.

A fiscally sponsored division or charitable project is not a separate tax-exempt organization. It operates within GGI’s charitable structure under a written agreement.

Established

Operate approved charitable work through GGI’s existing 501(c)(3) structure.

Administered

GGI maintains financial records and processes approved direct vendor payments.

Accountable

Written agreements, reporting, and oversight help protect charitable resources.

Fiscal Sponsorship

How does it work?

The leader defines the charitable work and applies to GGI. If approved, the parties enter into a written fiscal sponsorship agreement. GGI then administers the charitable funds and financial activity while the leader carries out the approved work and completes the required reporting.

Division or Project Leader

Defines the charitable purpose, activities, leadership, budget, timeline, and expected funding. Carries out the approved work and submits required documentation and reports.

Global Generosity

Reviews the proposed work, establishes the written fiscal sponsorship agreement, administers charitable funds, maintains financial records, and processes approved direct vendor payments.

Approved Vendors

Provide the goods or services needed for the charitable work and receive approved payments directly from GGI.

When charitable funds are held at NCF

Some fiscally sponsored divisions begin with charitable funds held at National Christian Foundation. Once the division is approved and a written fiscal sponsorship agreement is in place, GGI can sweep available funds from the applicable NCF fund to GGI. The leader carries out the approved charitable work while GGI administers the funds, pays approved vendors, maintains financial records, and monitors the work through required reporting.

  1. Funds held at NCF
  2. GGI-approved fiscal sponsorship
  3. Funds swept to GGI
  4. Approved work with GGI oversight

For applicable divisions, GGI has authority to initiate these sweeps without separately coordinating with NCF or obtaining a new approval for each transfer.

Key considerations

  • A written fiscal sponsorship agreement governs the relationship.
  • GGI retains oversight and control of funds it receives.
  • GGI pays approved vendors directly and does not reimburse expenses.
  • Leaders must provide required documentation and activity reports.
  • Fiscal sponsorship does not include grants, guaranteed funding, or fundraising services.
